Mango Orange Chili Popsicles are sweet, spicy, and refreshing. Great way to cool down in the summer. Chili pepper adds a fine spicy note to sweet fruit. Naturally sweet, vegan, raw, gluten-free. So easy and so delicious! Anyone can make them!

I need to admit something – I am not a big fan of popsicles. I prefer my frozen treats full of cream and sugar. With frozen yogurt being an exception but it’s also not very healthy.

Last week it was really hot and humid and I craved something icy to cool down. And although I would never choose a popsicle over an ice cream cone if I had a choice, these Mango Orange Chili Popsicles were an excellent way to feel better in the heat.

My grandma recently gave me a bag of 10 mangos so I’ve been trying to use them up in creative ways and these Mango Popsicles were part of my experiments.

How to make Mango Orange Chili Popsicles

They are super easy to make:

  • blend mango with a bit of orange juice
  • add finely chopped chilies
  • pour into your popsicle mold and freeze

I love mango and chili together in mango salads. In fact, are savoury popsicles a thing? I was thinking of adding some crunchy red onions, cilantro, peanuts, fish sauce to the mixture and making a Thai mango salad popsicle. Or would it be too weird?

What kind of chili to use to make Mango Orange Chili Popsicles

It’s actually up to you. I made these Mango Popsicles with small Thai Chili as well as with the long Thai Super Chili (you can see it in the photo). You can use any chili pepper that you like.

Moreover, you can use less chili than the amount specified in the recipe or more. Depending on how spicy you want your Mango Orange Chili Popsicles to be.

Here’s a big list of hot peppers.

Can you omit chili and make regular Mango Popsicles?

If chili isn’t your thing then just omit the pepper and you’ll get wonderful and healthy Mango Popsicles.

Are Mango Popsicles sugar free?

I did not add any extra sugar to the mixture but a bit of maple syrup or sugar or honey can be added.

The first time I made these Mango Orange Chili Popsicles, the mango I used was really sweet, so the end result was wonderfully sweet and spicy. When I made the recipe the next time the mango was more sour, so the popsicles turned out tangy and refreshing.

So, try the mango mixture before freezing and add some sweetener accordingly if you’d like.

And if you love mangos and strawberries together try Strawberry Mango Popsicles from The Fit Cookie, they are delicious. Or, for a tropical feel, try Mango and Pineapple Popsicles from I Heart Vegetables.

Notes

Use more or less chili if you prefer spicier or less spicy popsicles.

I found that the longer the popsicles are in the freezer, the spicier they get.
