This Ultimate Foodie Gift Guide 2018 is specific to Canada and has something for every budget: from more a expensive coffee machine and a pressure cooker to very affordable (yet extremely useful) oven and meat thermometers and lots of other great gifts for various budgets.
I have received free products from Best Buy Canada but all opinions are my own. This post also contains Best Buy affiliate links which means if you make a purchase after clicking those links, I will receive a small commission.
It’s that time of the year again! Sleigh bells ring. Are you listening? Well, if the snow is glistening and it’s a winter wonderland, then the best thing to do is to relax at home instead of braving the cold and crowds at the mall.
I know many people prefer to shop in person and I also love the festive malls in December but to me, holiday shopping is all about doing it online in the comfort of the home!
And just as in the past two years, I bring you another gift guide – Ultimate Foodie Gift Guide 2018 but this time it’s geared towards Canada. This country is amazing but Canada is lacking in the online shopping department. Most online gift guides are for American audience and a lot of the products aren’t available in Canada.
This Ultimate Foodie Gift Guide 2018 is specific to Canada and has something for every budget: from a more expensive coffee machine and an electric pressure cooker to very affordable (yet extremely useful) oven and meat thermometers and lots of other great gifts for various budgets.
This year I’ve partnered with Best Buy Canada to bring you the best gifts that foodies in your life would love!
Did you know that Best Buy is not just an electronics store? I grew up knowing that Best Buy is the place to go to buy a new tv set. However, as I recently discovered, Best Buy is so much more! You can buy anything from a computer to a crib to a sunscreen to a cookware set online at Best Buy.
Best Buy has locations in Canada, USA, and Mexico. And in Canada they offer free shipping for orders over 35$. Just like many other online retailers.
I personally made a few purchases over the years from BestBuy.ca because the prices were cheaper than elsewhere. So, this year’s Ultimate Foodie Gift Guide 2018 has all the great products from Best Buy and they are all available for Canadians.
Cuisinart is a known and trusted name in cookware and kitchen appliances, so this set is bound to be good quality. It looks beautiful and is very functional. It has a big soup pot, two different size sauce pans, one wider sauce pan which is perfect for making braises, such as Braised Duck Breasts with Apples and Onions, and a frying pan.
Every pot and pan comes with a lid which is really great as I often find that frying pans come without lids. All the items in this set are dishwasher-safe and oven-safe.
It’s a great housewarming gift or an anniversary gift also. I am sure everyone would be happy to receive such an amazing cookware set from Santa.
Another great gift from Cuisinart. Good knife set is often something overlooked in kitchens, so this compact knife block set will be a totally amazing gift for many foodies. It contains various knives for bread, meat, fish. It has kitchen shears, sharpener, and eight steak knives. The knife block looks stylish and will work well in different kitchens.
Just make sure that whoever is the recipient of this great gift isn’t superstitious. Giving knives as a gift is considered bad luck in many cultures. The way around this superstition is to actually “sell” the knives instead of giving them as a gift.
In Russia, the recipient always has to give a bit of their own money to the gift-giver, thus making a symbolic purchase of the knives. In North America, the knives are usually given with a coin, so that the coin can be returned back as a payment. Whatever tradition you follow, I’m sure it’ll be a very useful gift for years to come.
With my newfound love for Instant Pot cooking, no Ultimate Foodie Gift Guide 2018 would be complete without this amazing electric pressure cooker. I got this specific model a year ago and I’ve been using it 3-4 times a week since then. Often even a few times a day.
It is not an appliance for everyone and before buying it I strongly recommend reading 7 Things You Need To Know About Instant Pot article that I wrote. It lists a few points that I wish I knew before buying it.
Great gift for busy parents or students as Instant Pot makes it really convenient to cook without spending much time and effort in the kitchen.
Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus 6 quart is the specific model that I have and I cannot be happier with it. Better yet, it is also available in physical Best Buy stores if you prefer shopping in person.
Many different (even more expensive) models don’t work as well as this one. Check out all my Instant Pot Recipes for ideas on what you can make with an electric pressure cooker.
I have two different Nespresso machines and I’ve given Nespresso machines as gifts to many friends and family members in the past few years. If you or your loved ones love coffee then I highly recommend it. It’s just the most amazing holiday gift!
Yes, Nespresso coffee pods are more expensive than pods for other coffee machines but the quality is infinitely better. And in the end, each cup of coffee is still cheaper than what you would pay at a fancy coffee shop.
There are many different coffee strengths and you can try them all before deciding what to buy at various Nespresso boutique locations. I usually have one or two americanos a day and often one or two decafs in the evening. It’s not cheap but considering I work form home, it’s my only treat.
Nespresso pods are also recyclable and Nespresso recently launched a program where you can get special prepaid mail bags for the used pods, so that you can actually just mail them instead of going to the store to recycle.
I convinced my husband to give me a SodaStream machine for Christmas a few years ago. He didn’t think it was a good idea, yet it turned out to be one of the most used appliances in our kitchen. We use our SodaStream 3-4 times a day.
I am not a good water-drinker but with SodaStream I can drink a lot more water. I do not use SodaStream flavourings, I only make plain tap water into “bubble water” as my daughter calls it.
But if you like various soda drinks, SodaStream also has quite a few special flavourings and they are delicious,
If you love San Pellegrino or Perrier then SodaStream is for you! Great gift for foodies who love entertaining as it’s perfect to make sparkling water to add to cocktails.
I love my Nespresso coffee but my husband prefers French Press. Bodum French Presses are very popular and recognizable for their beautiful bright colours and sleek design.
However, this particular model is not a regular french press, it is a Travel French Press which keeps coffee hot for a few hours. It is also great for making loose leaf tea. So, it would be a great gift for both tea or coffee drinkers.
I love how you only need to use one container to make the drink and carry it outside. Less dishes is always great! It’s an amazing gift for anyone, be it a coworker or a family member. So useful and very affordable!
I’ve had numerous oven thermometers throughout the years but none of them worked properly. This no-frill oven thermometer is actually the best so far! You can hang it off the wire rack using a little hook or just stand it on the rack (that’s what I do).
For me, using an oven thermometer is absolutely essential!! My oven takes a very long time to preheat properly so I do not rely on any lights on the oven panel as they aren’t accurate. The oven thermometer is how I make sure that I am actually putting food in the properly preheated oven.
It’s a very practical and not too “sexy” gift but it is an extremely useful gift for anyone. It is also really affordable and a great stocking stuffer.
Pair it with my new cookbook, The Ultimate One-Pan Oven Cookbook, and a meat thermometer and you get a beautiful hostess gift.
Just like an oven thermometer, meat thermometer is essential when I cook. All those recipes that say “cook until chicken is cooked through” mean nothing if you can’t actually test the internal temperature of the meat.
I am very paranoid about undercooking my meats so I rely heavily on a meat thermometer and I recommend this to everyone, novice or experienced cook alike.
It’s a great gift for men in your life as they can use it in the summer when they grill meats. It’s a useful gift to any cook and great stocking stuffer also.
Ok, I actually don’t have these lids but my mom swears by them. Apparently you can put a lid like this on a pot of soup or pasta and the liquid will not spill out of the pot. That sounds super useful!
Great gift for a small kitchen as the lids do not take a lot of space. It’s one of those gifts that is a bit on an expensive side so most people wouldn’t buy the lids for themselves but would be really happy to receive as a gift.
Create a beautiful and unique gift basket by adding a jar of your favourite pasta sauce and a box of pasta to a colander, tuck in these lids and wrap in cellophane. Totally amazing gift that everyone will be ecstatic to get.
S’well bottles are very recognizable for their unique shape and beautiful design. It’s a perfect gift for anyone. So much better to use this kind of a water bottle instead of plastic bottled water.
I have one like this in shimmer gold colour and it works great with sparkling water (from my SodaStream) also. It’s a great gift for people commuting to their office every day or for students or stay at home parents who go for long walks with their kids.
So, here you have it: Ultimate Foodie Gift Guide 2018 specifically created with Canadians in mind with all the products available online through BestBuy.ca. If you are looking for more foodie gifts available online in Canada then check out Best Buy’s Kitchen & Dining Page for tons of more products!
